Learning Through Math Podcast with Marria

I met Laura Tomas at my first Florida Council of Teachers of Mathematics (FCTM) conference in the fall of 2017. I had moved to Florida 6 months earlier and knew no one. She politely asked me to take a photo of her and her friends and then gave me a big HUG! She is a hugger and this was pre-pandemic. I then kept running into her and her friends at sessions and by the end, she took this selfie of us! We are now great friends and I was lucky enough to be her facilitator when she took the Math Recovery Specialist in 2019. She has the beautiful red hair in the front. Pictured left to right are Elise Gordon, Robin Levin, myself, Marria Carrington, and Debbie Perry.

In the summer of 2020 Laura, who is a math coach in Palm Beach County Florida started a podcast with her good friend Karina Cousins who teaches 5th grade. I love their mission.

“Our mission at Learning Through Math is to inspire ourselves and others to keep learning and improving with passion…and hugs!”
